Since 1999, Goodfellas is part of the italian underground history, being one of the most influential reality in the indipendent distribution. The partnership with some of the most important indie-labels around (both europeans and americans) is only one of nowaday’s virtue, being Goodfellas able to develop many different activities, in order to move alongside today’s market and promotional request. Such a strong press agency, altogether with the excellent promo department and the brand new publishing companion, makes for a wide offer, able to raise the properties of both the inhouse labels and the distributed artists. This means more attention for media communication, a subject that bring us easily on the fine job developed through advertisement, documentaries and cult-movies, Goodfellas is in fact adviser for such strong movies Sir! No Sir! (a touching story about anti-militarism) and The Weather Underground (The White Panther Party in its heyday), plus partner of Wu Ming 1 on the historical audio/book Old New Thing (the black heroes of the influential ESP Records). More recently Goodfellas is releasing the soundtrack for the movie ‘Fine Pena Mai’ (based on the book ‘Vista D’Interni’, a sort of biography of the Italian mobster Antonio Perrone) . Famous italian post-punk band Brutopop alongsidewith folk composer Antongiulio Galeandro, are responsible for the original score, meanwhile artists as Port-Royal, Francisco and Pigna People (between many others) are providing material previously available. Quality has always been the main issue, along with huge philosophy and ethics, just to keep strong the relationship with the involved artists. A job that moves onwards in comparison with the usual distro dynamcis, bringing up a lot of sinergy and building new concepts for the future.

The distro is built around one of the largest catalogue around, avoiding genre defintion, Goodfellas is revolving around more and more different styles, painting a 360 degrees scenario. Indie-rock in all of its forms (atypical folk singers as Daniel Johnston or Michael Gira to brilliant productions in the guise of Kranky and Constellation, through the bizarre Sonic Youth’s offshot’s on Ecstatic Peace and Sonic Youth Recordings) hand in hand with black music pastand present (reggae/dub, soul/funk, jazz reissues and hip-hop). Electronica (dubstep, grime, electro, techno, IDM) – Aphex Twin on top of it with his Rephlex imprinting – and rock’n’roll (the roots – Elvis Presley – the psych-garage thing – Sonics to all the In The Red catalogue), jumping to the xtreme punk/hardcore movement (all of the must-have bands: Dead Kennedys, Bad Brains and Minot Threat to name but a few) on to the brand new metal (Sunn O))), Neurosis, Jesu, Isis).

A self-related entity Goodfellas is looking forward for interesting collaboration with artists and labels, bringing new life to the so-called indie market.
